George Barna, in the foreword of his newest book, Transforming Children into Spiritual Champions, laments the years in which he believed the most efficient path to help promote Christianity was through a heavy focus on the spiritual and moral development of adults. He writes, "In retrospect, my view was so far off the mark that I didn't just miss the boat I missed the entire ocean." Instead, Barna asserts the following as the number one goal of his book: "If you do not share my view that ministry to children is the single most strategic ministry in God's kingdom, then I hope this book will challenge your prevailing notions."

Beyond any grand achievement of any one man or woman, willingness to serve those in need is the true test of strength. While climbing the ladder of success takes strength of mind, the humility to remove rank, to drop to a knee, and to extend a helping hand requires strength of character.

The power of service. The power of relationship. The power of attention. The willingness to descend from the world of “to-do’s” into the world of “to-be’s.” Shaping what a child will become relies not solely on what they know, but on who believed in them enough to teach them what they know. Preparing our students for the path they will take requires them to increase their skills in math, reading, and the other subjects. Of equal importance is having someone pull along side a child who finds the path more difficult and say, “I believe in you. I support you. I am here to help you."

The tutoring program at Summit Christian Academy takes place on Monday and Tuesday afternoons from 3:30 to 4:30. Our goal is to make the job as simple as possible so that you, the tutor, can step in without any stress and spend every moment relating to the student. You can choose your subject area and student grade level, to be sure that your gifts, talents and areas of comfort are being leveraged. One slot per week is enough to change the trajectory of a little life.

We are always delighted to hear someone ask, "Could you use my help at the school?" The answer is a resounding "YES!" We love having you here! There's always room for more!
